Plano, Texas – The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) is pleased to announce the installation of three members to its Board of Directors. Elected by the SDMS membership, all will also serve on the SDMS Foundation Board of Directors.
Mitzi Roberts, EdD, RT(R), RDMS, RDCS, FSDMS, President of the SDMS and SDMS Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "Welcoming new board members brings valuable insights that are essential to the ongoing growth and innovation of the SDMS and its Foundation. I am eager to collaborate with these esteemed professionals as we guide the Society's future strategies and continue to lead in the field."
Sara Baker, MEd, RDMS, RVT, RMSKS, RT(R), FSDMS
SDMS & SDMS Foundation Director
Sara Baker, MEd, RDMS, RVT, RMSKS, RT(R), FSDMS, who has more than 20 years of experience in sonography and as a member of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS), was elected to the SDMS Board of Directors as a director in 2022, two years after being honored as an SDMS Fellow. She also served as an SDMS Director from 2015 to 2017. Sara is currently program manager of ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and positron emission tomography accreditation at the American College of Radiology. For over 20 years, Sara has volunteered in a wide range of activities to support the SDMS, the American Registry in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS), the South Central Wisconsin Ultrasound Society, and academia.
Talisha M. Hunt, BSRT, RDMS, RVT, RDCS, FSDMS

Talisha M. Hunt, BSRT, RDMS, RVT, RDCS, FSDMS, is a lead sonographer and assistant professor of radiology at Mayo Clinic/Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Rochester, Minnesota. She joined the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) in 2004 and is a dedicated contributor: elected three times to the SDMS and SDMS Foundation Board of Directors, a member of the editorial board and a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JDMS), and extensive service on SDMS task forces, committees, and volunteer/micro-volunteer assignments. Talisha is a Fellow of the SDMS, a bronze and silver Mayo Clinic Quality Fellow, and frequent award recipient. She has been in clinical practice since 2005 and maintains certifications/registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in abdomen, OB/GYN, vascular, adult echocardiography, and pediatric sonography. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology-sonography. A published author, Talisha is a lecturer for the SDMS Annual Conference and has twice won the SDMS Sonographer Poster Competition.
John Trombly, MS, RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RT(R)
SDMS & SDMS Foundation Director
John Trombly, MS, RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RT(R) has been in the field of sonography for nearly 40 years. He has worked in a variety of settings from large teaching hospitals to small rural clinics. He began his career in the US Air Force and established their sonography training program in the late 1980s. After the military, John entered the private sector in Texas where he continued to teach, conducted research with primates, and scan in hospitals and private practices as a contract sonographer. In 2005, he moved to Colorado and established the Sonography Program at Red Rocks Community College. After nine years in education, John reentered clinical practice at Kaiser Permanente in 2014 and now works as a perinatal sonographer in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Department. He has authored several papers and book chapters and has lectured extensively around the country throughout his career. John earned his master’s degree from Midwestern State University. In addition to his service on the SDMS & SDMS Foundation Board, he also serves on the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) Sonography Community, and as a reviewer for the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
