About the SDMS Foundation
The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) Foundation is a charitable, nonprofit organization whose programs include educational scholarships and grants to members of the SDMS who have a demonstrated need. The SDMS Foundation's grants and scholarships are made possible by donations from the SDMS members and the sonography community. Donations are deductible to the extent permitted by law (consult a tax professional).
The SDMS Foundation is committed to promoting and implementing ongoing improvements to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the diagnostic medical sonography profession. Read the full SDMS Foundation Board Policy.
The SDMS Foundation is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax exempt charitable organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. While the SDMS Foundation is currently not involved in any lobbying, the SDMS Foundation has elected the "safe harbor" option under Internal Revenue Code 501(h) because it allows the SDMS Foundation to know the lobbying limit (rather than trying to determine what the IRS will consider to be "insubstantial"). If the SDMS Foundation chose to lobby in the future, its lobbying efforts would be related to legislative or regulatory issues that directly impact the SDMS Foundation or its charitable programs. Please note that the SDMS Foundation is prohibited by its organizing documents and federal law from participating in campaigns for local, state, or federal office.
