Virtual Events Technical Support

Below is technology information, tips and some common issues users face for SDMS Virtual Events.

If you require additional assistance, please contact: events@sdms.org

Login Information

We recommend logging in 10 minutes before the virtual event starts to ensure you can access it. Prior to the event, you will receive reminder emails with your personalized login link. The login link in the email is required to access the event. If you will not have access to the account where you received the email when it is time to login, please forward the email to another account that you can access.

Can I share my login information with my team so we can all watch?

Your personalized login link is unique to you and is how the SDMS will track and award your SDMS CME credits for your participation. If you share your login link, the SDMS cannot guarantee that you will receive your SDMS CME credits.

Zoom

The SDMS uses the Zoom platform for our Virtual Events. If you have not used Zoom before, when you click the login link, you will be prompted to download and run Zoom. After you download and run Zoom, you must go back to your email and use the personalized login link to access the event.

We highly recommend that you download and run Zoom prior to the conference so that you can access the livestream during the event without any delays. You can download the Zoom application from the Zoom Download Center.

Accessing on a Mobile Device

If you plan to participate on a mobile device or tablet (instead of a laptop or desktop computer), we recommend that you download the Zoom Cloud Meetings app via your app store in advance.

Will I be seen or heard during the event?

Attendee microphones will be muted and cameras will be turned off.

Technology Tips

  • We recommend that you don't use Internet Explorer as your browser to view the event as the attendee chat may not function correctly.
  • For the best streaming experience, we recommend that you close other programs on your device and minimize the traffic on your WiFi/network.
  • Attendees will be able to ask the presenter questions through the Q&A feature as well as chat with the other attendees. Start thinking now about the questions you want to ask!
  • Want to watch on your mobile device? Mobile access is available with the "Zoom" app. Click here for more instructions.
