SDMS Fellow Membership
Description
The SDMS Fellow membership category recognizes individual members who have made outstanding contributions to the field of sonography and to the SDMS. A SDMS Fellow exhibits professional qualities and attributes by contributing to the advancement of sonography and sustained contribution to the SDMS.
Eligibility
- Must be an Active member in good standing for at least five years continuous membership preceding induction.
- Must be credentialed in at least one specialty area by a national sonography credentialing body recognized by the SDMS Board of Directors.
Criteria
- Nominator must be a current SDMS member.
- Self-nominations cannot be made.
- Demonstrated contribution and/or leadership in SDMS and achievement in diagnostic medical sonography.
Procedure
- A call for nominations will be made to the SDMS membership in the first SDMS News Wave of the calendar year.
- An Application for Fellow Status will be sent to nominees upon the receipt of a completed Nomination Form and nominator letter. The application will include a clearly stated deadline for receipt of the completed application in the SDMS Headquarters.
- The SDMS Membership Committee and two SDMS Fellows who are not currently SDMS Board of Director members will conduct the nomination evaluation by reviewing the nominator letters and completed applications. A recommendation will be made to the SDMS Board of Directors by the SDMS Membership Committee.
- The Board of Directors may accept or reject the recommendation.
- Induction for new Fellows will take place at the SDMS Annual Conference and will be announced in the SDMS News Wave.
- Fellows will receive a Fellow medallion and certificate.
