Advanced Practice Sonographer® (APS®) Roster

Listed below are the SDMS members who have received the Advanced Practice Sonographer® (APS®) designation. This new membership category is designed to create opportunities for advancement and recognition of the membership within the ultrasound profession, to educate the medical community and healthcare consumers, and to assist in the establishment of a career ladder for advancement within the profession of sonography. The APS® is intended to serve as a model for recognition of clinical excellence and standards of excellence in ultrasound specialties.

These members have fulfilled extensive requirements to qualify for this membership designation, including: ARDMS verification of specialty registration for a minimum of five years; employment verification for a minimum of five years of specialty specific clinical experience of at least 24 hours a week and 800 exams a year; official transcripts from an accredited college/university from which they received their bachelor's degree (in lieu of a bachelor's degree an additional ten years of verified clinical experience can be used to meet the education requirement through December 21, 2002); publication of an article/paper/case report in a peer-reviewed journal; and finally, maintenance of at least fifteen CME credits per APS® specialty per triennium.
